It is my great pleasure to invite you to the 109th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) in Austin.
The Annual Meeting brings together thousands of periodontal professionals, dental students, periodontal residents, insurance experts, and hygienists. With a variety of programming and special events, attendees will be exposed to the newest periodontal research and findings, have networking opportunities like never before, and more. What I value about the Annual Meeting is how much there is to listen to, participate in, and how many people there are to meet (and learn from).
Bringing AAP members together in one place is something special that I look forward to witnessing. Members will be able to learn more about AAP initiatives and share their thoughts with their regional representatives at the District Forums, as well as gain an understanding of the AAP’s financial state, strategic direction, and Constitution and Bylaw considerations from the General Assembly.
The prestigious Balint Orban Memorial Competition and Research Forum Poster Session will showcase the research of the best and brightest periodontal residents, recent graduates, and other researchers who have put in the extra work that has allowed them to stand out as the next generation of our profession. The Annual Meeting is the perfect setting to see what our future periodontists have been working on and ask them any questions you may have.
Let’s all utilize the variety of programming here to share what we know and learn something new from others. Without collaboration, the AAP would not be where it is today. The AAP also strongly values their relationship with the AAP Foundation (AAPF), who will be hosting various events such as their perennial favorite Silent Auction.
A special thank you to our corporate partners who play a vital role in funding much of the AAP’s programming. Many of our programs, including the Annual Meeting, would not exist without our corporate partners. Here’s to an educating, entertaining, and engaging experience for us all! Sincerely,
David K. Okano
