Welcome to Rome

On behalf of the EACMFS and the Organizing Committee may I say how delighted we are to invite you to the 27th EACMFS Congress to be held in Rome, Italy, on 16-20 September, 2024.Oral and Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery  (OMF & CMF)  has a rich history and its evolution has been dramatic as today the Specialty takes the lead among the related disciplines in a fully integrated interdisciplinary patient care system.
The EACMFS has become the most prominent and highly respected professional group for the Specialty in Europe. Additionally, with a high profile in other parts of the World it has been possible to coordinate actions in favour of OMF & CMF at a European and National level in order to advance the standards of care through improved education and training.
The 27th EACMFS Congress in Rome aims to be the premier international forum for research, theory and development related to Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery in the forthcoming years.
The five day programme will encompass key note presentations, symposia, masterclasses and free papers as well as offer an exhibition showcasing the most recent products and services available.Italy has been the cradle of many European cultures, such as the Etruscans and the Romans, later it was the birthplace of the University and of the Renaissance, that began in Tuscany and spread all over Europe. Italy’s capital, Rome, was for centuries the center of western civilization.

The Eternal City was Caput Mundi ( Head of the World ) in the Roman era, and from its law and liberal arts and sciences radiated to the confines of the vast Empire, which covered the whole of the known western world. In this century, Rome restored its role of the greatest importance in European history being the seat of the Italian Government, seat of the Christianity for the presence of the Vatican, and one of the most important cultural and artistic centres of the world.
The city attracts millions of tourists every year with its imposing architecture of the past and some of the greatest works of art of the Renaissance and the Baroque.Rome will provide an unforgettable setting for this important event as Europe is a unique blend of cultures and this occasion provides a particular opportunity to share those cultures, benefit from the wealth of education and talent that exists in our countries and above all, join together in a spirit of friendship and cooperation.

The Congress Venue, Rome Convention Center “La Nuvola”, is one of the most iconic buildings in the entire City of Rome. This visionary building by Massimiliano Fuksas was inaugurated on the 29th of October 2016 and since then it has been acknowledged worldwide as a fine example of contemporary aesthetics, characterized by eco-friendly materials and innovative technological solutions. The project is based on the interaction of three elements: the Case, the Cloud and the Hotel.
The Cloud is undoubtedly the most characteristic architectural element: the structure, with its extraor-dinary visual effect, floats in a 40-meter-high steel and glass case, 70 and 175 long. The whole complex is designed to be highly flexible, being able to host events with vastly different characteristics and with a total capacity of almost 8,000 seats. “La Nuvola” also includes a 4-star hotel built to measure for the needs of the participants (Headquarter Hotel to the Congress).

Our vision for hosting the EACMFS Rome 2024 is based on using the art of the Italian welcome and lifestyle to unite the world of the scientific communities in OMF & CMF.I look forward to welcoming you all to the Eternal City and to the EACMFS 2024 Congress.
