  • <p></p><p>The course takes place in two parts, each being two days in length and held on a Friday and Saturday to minimise the amount of time that participants need to be away from their practice.</p><p>The theory and practical sections of the short course are divided as follows;</p><p><b>Theory:</b></p><ul><li>Adequately document a patients' periodontal health</li><li>Assess risk factors for periodontal disease on an individual patient basis</li><li>Understand the pathogenesis of periodontal disease and its management</li><li>Effectively treatment plan patients presenting with periodontal disease within the context of a comprehensive restorative treatment plan</li><li>Understand the role of the patient in disease control and how to motivate patients</li><li>Use contemporary non-surgical techniques in disease control</li><li>Recognise presenting conditions that require the use of antimicrobials</li><li>Diagnose and effectively treat periodontic /endodontic lesions</li></ul><p><b>Practical:</b></p><ul><li>Understand the indications for surgical periodontal treatment</li><li>Carry out basic flap surgery</li><li>Perform root resection surgery</li><li>Perform periodontal regenerative surgery</li><li>Perform crown lengthening surgery</li><li>Perform simple grafting surgery</li></ul><br><p></p>

  • <p></p><p>The new programme of Dentistry in a Day clinical updates complements the FGDP(UK)'s existing portfolio of highly successful and highly regarded courses. Each session will act as a refresher on the essentials of clinical practice in respect of a particular topic, as well as introducing you to the latest concepts, technology and techniques.</p><p>We know that time out of practice is precious, and each information-packed day is tailored to the needs of busy members of the dental team. Each day will afford an opportunity to participate in lively and interactive case-based discussion sessions in the afternoon. All lecturers are experts in their chosen fields, and all events are held at the Royal College of Surgeons in central London.
