Topic: Local and Systemic Effects from Tribocorrosion of Titanium Implants
Dr. Olmedo received his dental degree and PhD from the National University of Córdoba, Argentina. He is a specialist in Oral Pathology, and is currently Head Professor of the Oral Pathology Department of the School of Dentistry, University of Buenos Aires (UBA), and Head of the Biomaterials Laboratory of the Department. He is Associate Researcher of the “Career of Scientific and Technological Researcher” of the National Council of Scientific and Technological Research (CONICET), Argentina. His main research area is Biomaterials (metallic implants and bone substitutes), namely, the biological effect of metallic implant tribocorrosion. He has authored 27 full scientific papers published in international peer-reviewed indexed journals, 2 scientific communications, 2 book chapters, and 70 works published as abstracts, and has attended 60 local and 20 international scientific meetings as presenting author. He has served as Director of a number of research grants from national funding agencies. Dr. Olmedo is Editorial Board Member of Scientifica, Biomaterials Area (New York, USA), and has served as Reviewer for a number of international journals. He is an Active member of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), and is the President of the Argentine Society of Dental Research (IADR Argentine Division) for the 2015-2016 term.
