Biographie
Dr. Hovden, a 1981 graduate of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, is currently in private practice in Daly City, California. Dr. Hovden has studied with many of the leading educators in the dental field. These include Dr. Peter Dawson, Dr. Mark Piper, Dr. David Hornbrook, Dr. Frank Spear, Dr. John Kois, Dr. Newton Fahl, Dr. Pascal Magne, Dr. Keith Phillips, Dr. Dennis Tarnow, Dr. Christian Coachman, Dr. DeWitt Wilkerson, Dr. Dean Kois, Dr. Galip Gurel and Dr. Steve Buchanon.
He maintains a faculty position at UOP in the department of Endodontics along with a teaching position at IDEA, where he teaches an “Introduction to the Microscope for the General Practitioner”.
Dr. Hovden over 15 years ago founded Bay Area Aesthetic Masters, a Bay Area Study Club with over 20 members dedicated to enhancing their member’s knowledge and enjoyment of aesthetic restorative dentistry.
He is a former clinical mentor of the Hornbrook Group where he taught advanced restorative dentistry. He is now a visiting faculty member of the Spear Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona where he teaches in the restorative workshops. In addition Dr. Hovden became an Accredited Member of the AACD in 2008 and in 2018 he became the 79th Fellow. In 2018 he also was promoted to “Clinical Instructor” at the Kois Center where he teaches each year.
Dr. Hovden introduced the surgical microscope to his office over 20 years ago and added his second microscope almost 15 years ago. He has incorporated their use into his comprehensive restorative practice.
