Biographie
Dr. Keren Shemtov-Yona holds a B.Sc. in Biology and Life Sciences (Tel Aviv University, 2000), A DMD from the School of Dental Medicine (Tel Aviv University, 2007), and an M.Sc. in Medical Sciences (2013, Technion, Haifa). She is currently an intern in Periodontology at the School of Dental Medicine (Tel Aviv University), and is pursuing in parallel her PhD at Technion (Haifa) since 2014 at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Being at the interface between Dental and Engineering Sciences, Dr. Shemtov-Yona specializes in the fields of mechanical reliability of dental implants and bone-implant mechanical interaction. Dr. Shemtov-Yona has extensively studied the fatigue failure of dental implants, as well as the influence of surface treatments on the implants’ reliability. Likewise, she developed alternative accelerated methods for fatigue testing of dental implants. Dr. Shemtov-Yona participated to the ISO/TC 106/SC 8/WG 4 meeting as an expert delegate. Her work has been published in 12 journal papers, including 2 review papers on her field of expertise, and she has presented her work in several international meetings.
