Prof. Itzhak Binderman, DMD, Professor in Dentistry, Department of Oral Biology, School of Dental Medicine, ‘Sackler’ Faculty of Medicine, and The Department of Biomedical-Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel.
Practicing Implant Prosthodontics since 1969 and Former Head of Department of Implant Prosthodontics and Hard Tissues Laboratory, "Souraski" Tel Aviv Medical Center, Tel Aviv University. Visiting Scientist, National Institute of Health, NIDR, Bethesda, USA. Senior Scientist and Consultant in the Department of Structural Biochemistry, Hospital for Special Surgery, NYC and Cornell Medical School, NYC. NASA research program on space shuttle: The effect of Microgravity on in vitro calcification, NASA 1994 and 1995. In vitro initiation of biological calcification, Consultant and investigator, NIH grant RO 1-AR37661-01A1,for 20 years. Main research areas: Autogenic dentin as gold standard of alveolar ridge preservation. The biology of marginal gingiva and alveolar bone. Mechanism of periodontal diseases; Local treatment of bone resorption by Alendronate; Cell-matrix interaction in generation of bone. Author of more than 150 publications. Courses in Biomedical department and School of Dental Medicine:“Engineering principles in Biology” Cell-cell and cell matrix communication in health and disease.
